Are you feeling overwhelmed with the thought of picking the perfect outfits for your senior photos? Don’t worry, I’m here to help you! As your senior photographer, I want to make sure that you look and feel amazing on your big day, and that includes helping you choose the perfect outfits to match your location.
First, let’s talk about the location. If your senior shoot is in a natural, outdoor setting, think about wearing earthy tones and or fabrics that complement the surroundings. If the shoot is in a more urban area, bold and edgy looks with brighter colors work really well.
Once we have an idea of what locations you envision yourself in, we can start thinking about your outfits and pairing them perfectly with the locations. I always recommend choosing a statement piece to build the outfit around, whether it’s a patterned dress or a bold jacket. From there, we can choose complementary pieces that tie the outfit together. And don’t forget about accessories! A simple necklace or a hat can really elevate the look and stand out in your pictures.
Here are some tips to help you pick the perfect outfits that match your locations:
- Think about the color scheme of your location: Before you start picking out outfits, take a look at the location you’ve chosen. Think about the colors in the background and the overall vibe of the location. Generally, if the background is in nature with neutral colors then adding a pop of color in your clothing will really stand out against the location for example a pink or colorful dress in a golden field or a red dress in a river or creek. If your background itself has lots of color, for example brick, or colorful walls in an urban setting, then choosing more neutral colors or black or white or denim will look great against the colorful background and not compete with it. This will help you choose outfits that complement the surroundings. I will help us combine your outfit perfectly with the locations.
- Consider the season: If you’re doing your photoshoot during the fall, for example, you might want to consider outfits with warm colors and cozy textures. On the other hand, if you’re doing your photoshoot during the summer, you might want to choose lighter fabrics and brighter colors.
- Keep it simple: When in doubt, go for simple, classic outfits that won’t distract from the location or overwhelm the photos. Neutral colors and simple patterns work well for this.
- Don’t be afraid to accessorize: Accessories can be a great way to add a pop of color or texture to your outfit, and they can help tie your outfit in with your location. For example, if you’re shooting at the beach, consider wearing a straw hat or carrying a beach bag. A beautiful tasteful necklace and earrings, always add nice dimension and a polished look to your outfit.
- Trust your photographer: Finally, don’t forget to trust your photographer! As your senior photographer, I’m here to help guide you through the process and make sure everything looks amazing. I absolutely love and have lots of experience in matching outfits to locations, and I’m always happy to offer suggestions and advice.
